NICOLSON
LEWIS SPORTS CENTRE, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
The
Nicolson Lewis Sports Centre in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis is one
of the more remote projects we have undertaken.
This site in
the Western Isles illustrates our ability, as a Scottish company, to
serve all geographical areas of the Scottish marketplace.

Divisional
Curtains with Rebound Boards
On
this particular project, we provided an interchangeable set of
rebound boards, which can be deployed either across the width
or length of the games hall, or in a combination to section off
a quarter.
These
boards allow for the creation of distinct teaching / playing areas,
ideally suited to indoor football, hockey or sports where a solid
edge can be played to.

Removable
posts slot into sockets set below the finished floor level. The
heavy duty rebound boards can then be rolled into position and
lifted onto the lugs on the posts, giving a flush surface.
When
not in use, the posts can be removed and a capping plate creates
a neat, flush finish over the floor socket.

This
image details the divisional curtain where it attaches to the
top of the rebound boards. This is done with Velcro strips and
provides a very neat hall dividing solution where rebound boards
are in use.
The
boards allow sports to be played against them, as described above,
while the net prevents any balls, shuttles, etc from passing between
the areas without impeding light diffusion. We favour this design
of curtain, as a full-length net can pose a tripping hazard.
When
rebound boards are not in use, infill sections of netting can
be provided which attach to the Velcro on the upper section.
